The first “Duluth Business Association” meeting (previously “Duluth Merchants Association”-new name, same great folks! ) was hosted at the Duluth Rexall Grill Tuesday evening. Lynda Alley our host greeted us with a welcoming smile and traditional Southern cooking.
Members and guests socialized while dining on Brunswick Stew, Chili, corn bread, chicken salad sandwiches, Barbeque sandwiches and Peach Cobbler for dessert. February marks the 45th anniversary of the Rexall Grill, making it definitely a Duluth tradition! Linda’s latest upgrade took a moment to locate – ah, the checkerboard ceiling tiles look great!
2013 President Al Brown discussed the organizational name change, from Duluth Merchants Association to Duluth Business Association (DBA). Same great folks and same organization – just a better name to identify this business networking group and to further encourage membership within the community!
2013 Membership Committee Chairman Marlene Svoboda, of Personal Power Life Coaching presented two new plans to encourage membership. Members will receive a gift for bringing the most guests to a meeting, and the member who brings in the most new members during the year will receive free annual membership for the subsequent year. Anyone interested in joining DBA, please contact Marlene at 404-308-6807.
Visitor Leo Veiga-Sotelo of State Farm Insurance introduced himself to the members…we hope you join, Leo! Members took the opportunity to stand up and re-introduce themselves and their businesses.
President Brown encouraged members to promote fellow member businesses. And to start the process, he collected business cards from everyone and then redistributed them out. The plan of action is for each member to meet during the month with the person whose card he/she selected and discuss their mutual businesses to ensure they can promote each other…you never know when that opportunity might arise!
